While GoDaddy is one of the largest and most popular websites for domain registration and hosting it has definitely had it's fair share of controversy. From shutting down people's domains without proper notice, to large service outages and poor support to countless lawsuits.
This has lead many customers (including myself a former GoDaddy user) to seek out alternatives to GoDaddy for domain and hosting needs. The websites you'll find below are other providers that I've used during my time online that have provided a better service than what I experience on GoDaddy.

1 - HostGator
The First GoDaddy Alternative That I Tried
HostGator was the very first alternative to GoDaddy that I used after leaving their service and consider it to be one of the better options out there based on my experience with them.In addition to purchasing a domain and hosting package I played around with the free website templates and website builder which was also very decent (although I recommend going with something more standard like WordPress).
The few times I had to contact support on HostGator I got reasonably quick replies by email and the live chat although that will depend on your location more than anything.
Prices on HostGator are fairly competitive with their cheapest plan running just under $4 for longer term plans and a domain setting you back just over $10. This can easily be brought even lower with the regular coupons and discounts on offer.

2 - DreamHost
One Of The Popular Websites Like GoDaddy
DreamHost is another one of the hosting services that you'll see get mentioned a lot and another provider I've used for basic websites and a small number of domain registrations.On your DreamHost you'll be paying a slight price premium for hosting but get the benefits of better performance, more dedicated support and a free domain name with hosting package.
One particular appeal of DreamHost is the specialised WordPress hosting that offers hosting with WordPress installed, daily backups and other WordPress orientated features. This makes DreamHost a particular attractive GoDaddy alternative if you're looking to setup a WordPress blog or website with very minimal fuss.

3 - FatCow
One Of The Good Alternatives To GoDaddy For New Website Owners
FatCow does things a little different from your standard webhost but is still one of my favourite sites like GoDaddy. On FatCow you'll find that they offer terms on a yearly basis as opposed to monthly. Personally I found that this didn't impact my decision at all since I'm always buying a year minimum on hosting plans to save some dollars.If you catch FatCow during one of the many sales that they offer it's quite easy to get hosting for $40 a year and a free domain thrown in for good measure as well. FatCow is also one of the better hosts in terms of bonuses with credits for Facebook and Google Adwords on signup as well.
My favourite feature of FatCow is the variety of builders that they offer through their hosting plan which includes Weebly, WordPress and Joomla which makes it easy for all web development skill levels to get started.

4 - GreenGeeks
Support The Environment By Using This Website Like GoDaddy
GreenGeeks was one of the first alternatives to GoDaddy that started offering an environmentally friendly hosting option.If you care about the environment and want your hosting account to align with your beliefs then GreenGeeks is one I would recommend on your hunt for sites like GoDaddy.
While GreenGeeks is the first hosting website that I've written about here without personal experience I've made good friends with a number of satisfied customers and the reviews online speak for themselves as well. You'll also find that the prices on GreenGeeks to be extremely competitive and all the features you'll need.

Another One Of The Impressive Sites Like GoDaddy
MyHosting is the final alternative to GoDaddy I've chosen to write about and another hosting service I've set my friends up with while hearing some very positive things back.Price and ease of use are the main selling points of MyHosting as is their email hosting packages which aren't offered by too many other options.
MyHosting also aims to simplify cloud hosting. This makes it particularly attractive for those web owners just looking to get into the cloud and move away from traditional shared hosting methods.
Domains are also available through MyHosting and like most websites will provide you with a free domain on purchase of their hosting plan which is always a nice touch.

My Favourite GoDaddy Alternative For Domain Registration
If you've landed on my list of the top alternatives to GoDaddy and are looking to simply register a domain name then I strongly recommend Namecheap.While they do offer hosting among many other services their simple and hassle free registration has been my preferred option for many years now.
